Windows 7 Aero on Virtual Machine

With the “Integration Components” in Windows 7 Virtual PC and the enhanced, updated version of Remote Desktop in 7, we can now enable Windows 7 Aero even on the Virtual Machine very easily.

How to Enable Windows 7 Aero on a Virtual Machine

1. Enable Aero on your Virtual Machine.

2. Once you have enabled, install Integration Components in your Windows 7 Virtual Machine.

3. Now in Windows Virtual PC, go to Tools->Enable Integration Features.

4. Your Virtual Machine will be logged off, just log-in again and you will see that Windows 7 is fully enabled and working on Windows 7 Virtual Machine

Simple, Isn’t it! Thanks to Neowin for the tip. If its still not working then Go to Personalization, and pick one of the “Windows Aero” themes to enable it.

Note : This will work only on Windows 7 PC running the Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate SKU.

Didn’t even know that was possible! Thanks for the step by step directions-so much more helpful that way!

Might of known this was possible this early in the release of windows 7 i deemed it impossible to do until you mentioned at the bottom of the post that it is only possible with the PRO upwards versions.

Good tip.
