Blackra1n has been fianlly released and is available for download. Blackra1n is a tool which can jailbreak iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and also iPod Touch 2G and 3G. You can also jailbreak iPod Touch 3 (ipt3), but the ipt3 is tethered. In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n.
For now blackra1n is available for Windows only, Mac version will be released later. Remember BlackRa1n will not hacktivate. iPhone 3G and 3GS users do not upgrade to iPhone 3.1.2 yet, because your baseband will be upgraded and you will lose your unlock.
Here is a detailed guide on How to Jailbreak iPhone / iPod 3.1.2 with blackra1n:
- First you will need to update to the original iPhone OS firmware 3.1.2(links at the end of the post) and activate it. (BlackRa1n will not hacktivate).
- Download blackra1n (inks at the end of the post), and run blackra1n.exe. Now click on the large “make it ra1n” button. After a short time it will reboot.
- Once it reboots you will see a blackra1n app on your screen. Launch the app and let it download and install Cydia.
- Once this is done, reboot your iPhone and now you will have a fully jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch.
