iPhone Dev-Team had released PwnageTool 3.1 to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1, but the problem Windows users were not able to use that tool as it was only for MAC. My Iphone 2G with 3.1 firmware is not activated thus I can not click shift in itunes to bring up the restore method. How do I skip the activation part so I can load on the custom 3.1 firmware, which will make my iphone unlocked thus no activation required? I really don’t think this is possible yet using Windows. I may have to borrow my friends mac when he returns from holiday.

@Dan,

Turn off the iphone, and turn it back ON which holding the home button and let go off the power button after it is ON and the phone enters the DFU mode. At this point you will see a USB cable pointing towards the iTunes icon. Now launch the itunes and hold the Shift and click on Restore to point to the custom firmware file that you download.

Hope that helps.
